Mr. Brian Katz is one of the co-founding partners of American Real Estate Partners. Brian Katz brings over 23 years of extensive experience in all aspects of commercial real estate including capital markets, acquisition, leasing, asset management and development.
Together with Doug Fleit, CEO of American Real Estate Partners, they acquired more than $1.5 billion of office, flex, industrial and residential assets, spanning major office markets in the Eastern Seaboard, including Washington, D.C. and the Northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Raleigh-Durham. Brian Katz serves as the head of the Operational Committee within the firm, which is responsible for all of the internal management and accounting activities at American Real Estate Partners.
Prior to founding American Real Estate Partners, Brian Katz spent the previous 12 years as a Senior Director at Cushman & Wakefield’s Commercial Brokerage Group (C&W) in Northern Virginia. During his 12 years of practice at C&W, Brian Katz’s vision and guidance helped to grow the firm’s corporate and institutional ownership practices. While at C&W, Brian Katz leased and sold in excess of 15 million square feet of space and was considered one of the top brokers in the Washington region.
Prior to Joining Cushman & Wakefield in 1993, Brian Katz worked for the Evans Company, a regional development firm, where he was responsible for the marketing/leasing of the company’s 2.5 million square foot office portfolio as well as their 1,500-acre land portfolio.
Brian Katz received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland in 1987 and a Masters in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University in 1994.
